MUMBAI: With recession being the hottest topic around and conserving the need of the hour, this seems to be the apt time to have a college fest centred around the theme of making the best out of waste. Bhavan's College's much acclaimed inter-collegiate festival, set to be held from December 11 to 13, will revolve around `Junk and Scraps' as the main theme. Sadia Azmi, chairperson for the fest, said, "All events will revolve around the theme.'' The college was expecting the participation of around 75 institutions, she said.
This is the first time that adventure sports has been included in the itinerary. "There will be rappelling, wall climbing, rink football, classroom football valley-crossing and other sports, which will be the biggest crowdpuller,'' said Kazan Uddin in-charge of outdoor publicity. Bhavan's College will also make use of the lake in their campus for adventure sports and the amphitheatre for elimination rounds. Members of the fest committee also said it was a relief that raising funds for the fest was not difficult as they have got their sponsors. "We have a realistic budget and we do not go for unnecessary expenditure so even during this time of recession, we have easily found sponsors and will celebrate the fest in a grand manner,'' said a professor.
